Paul Ekon was born is Johannesburg, South Africa on May 26, 1959. His mother passed away before Ekon started high school. After her death, Ekon enrolled to study at St. Stithians College. A prestigious education, the boarding school is one of the Elite Seven South African schools. He graduated from St. Sithians in 1976. Rather than attend university, Ekon decided to join South Africa's army. He served two years in the basic air force wing.
Ekon's business career has meandered down many adventurous paths. He is known as a respected venture capitalist and philanthropist. Ekon currently lives in the United Kingdom. He is a widely regarded humanitarian who spends his energy ensuring that orphans in South Africa have access to nutritious meals.

From Photography to Computer Technology Industries
Ekon's military career allowed him to translate his personal interest in photography into a job shooting film for the defense industry's magazine Paratus. After getting his photography footing in South Africa, Ekon moved to Los Angeles, California to polish his skills and penetrate the industry.
Ekon returned to South Africa in 1979. His stint as a photographer in America inspired his interest in the food, beverage and entertainment industry. A few of Paul Ekon’s successful establishments in Johannesburg include Hot Tin Roof, Walnut Grove and Harper's.

Ready to start something new, Paul Ekon began marketing South African consumer products manufactured by Barbara Barnard, Hang Ten, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, and Jordache - all while ensuring that his restaurants where thriving.
Ekon recognized that South African consumer products were incredibly profitable. He took advantage of his new expertise and added door knobs and handles to his product line. Paul was able to make huge profits of handles and knobs until 1995, when cheaper Chinese manufactured goods infiltrated the South African market. Ekon was no longer able to compete, but was able to cash out with significant profits.

Eager and undaunted, Paul Ekon used the profits he collected from his company's sale to invest in Management Technologies Inc. By creating software for the international banking industry, the computer company was able to be publicly traded until 1997.

Paul Ekon Revives South Africa's Diamond Industry
Ekon saw that basic geological developments in South Africa could yield high profits for investors. This has allowed Ekon to help reconfigure South Africa's traditional diamond industry in an ethical and natural manner.

Paul Ekon actively invests in the New African Mining Company, which is lead by Deon Kotze and Fernando Garcao and a team of mining experts with over 100 years of experience in the industry. By understanding the weathering processes that are uncovering new deposits of diamonds in old, abandoned mining dumps, Ekon has allowed himself and other investors the chance at steady cash from flow.

New African Mining mines and sells rough diamonds recovered from the 5 abandoned mines that the company owns in and around the Kimberly area. Since 1871, Kimberly has been recognized as a diamond mining metropolis. Paul Ekon expects that in the next 4-6 years, New African Mining's dumps will be incredibly lucrative ventures, and as always, Ekon has the savvy to capitalize on a tread early on.
